Plutchiks Wheel Of Emotions

Don't know what you're feeling? Robert Plutchik created an emotion map that looks like a flower. It shows 8 basic emotions and their blends (e.g., Joy + Trust = Love). This tool helps to name the unnamable.

How to Use the Wheel?

  1. Start from the center (strongest emotions, e.g., Rage).
  2. Move outwards (milder, e.g., Annoyance).
  3. Look for opposites (Joy vs. Sadness).

Naming emotions ("Name it to tame it") reduces amygdala activity.

Interactive Wheel in Corty

In Corty's Emotion Journal, we use a model based on Plutchik's wheel. You click on a color (e.g., Red - Anger) and select a shade. This teaches emotional intelligence every day.
