Everyone has heard of White Noise. But recently, the internet has gone wild over its "heavier" cousin – Brown Noise. The #brownnoise hashtag on TikTok has billions of views, and people with ADHD claim it's the only thing that helps them "quiet their brain." What's the deal?
How Does Brown Noise Differ from White Noise?
- White Noise: All frequencies have the same power. Sounds like "shhh," radio static. For many, it's too sharp and irritating (too many high frequencies).
- Brown (Red) Noise: Power drops sharply with increasing frequency. Deep bass dominates here. Sounds like a powerful waterfall, distant thunder, strong wind, or the hum of an airplane engine inside the cabin. It's "warm," "soft," and "enveloping."
